ADVOCACY PETITION HITS 10,000 SIGNATURES AND GAINS TRACTION IN THE BROADER ARTS WORLD

NEW YORK (June 17, 2020) — The newly named Performing Arts Managers and Agents Coalition, referred to as PAMAC, comprising 150+ U.S. artist managements and booking agencies, announces reaching 10,000 signatures on their Change.org petition today. This comes one day following the introduction of the coalition’s new name and website at www.artsrelief.org.

Launched on June 4, 2020, the petition secured 2,000 signatures within 24 hours, 5,000 signatures within 5 days and 10,000 signatures in 12 days.

Through grassroots efforts and the support of 21 service organizations in the industry representing a broad range of genres, the petition has quickly gained traction and attained signatures from all sides of the industry: artist managers, artists, presenters, promoters, producers, composers, academics, gig workers, fans, music lovers and beyond. Thousands are hearing about it and joining the movement.

Comprising 230+ managers and agents from 150+ agencies across the States, from New York to Hawaii, PAMAC has united this segment of the U.S. performing arts field for the first time, with a mission of working together in collective action to advocate with Congress for arts support relief in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Most arts advocacy up to this point has focused primarily on non-profit organizations. The coalition’s priority is to build awareness with Congressional leaders to the fact that all businesses, both non-profit and for-profit, as well as artists and gig workers, need relief.

PAMAC has been working closely with the Americans for the Arts and the League of American Orchestras to ensure that their proposal aligns with the policy asks of their partner service organizations, so their voice is unified with the broader arts sector and, collectively together, they can affect legislative change. Their belief is that arts relief is the only way the industry will survive and resume live performances in the United States.

With the support of their ally organizations broadening reach, PAMAC has rapidly expanded to represent all genres: Acapella, Acrobatics, Acting, Americana, Attractions, Avant-garde, Bluegrass, Blues, Broadway, Cabaret, Celtic/Irish, Choral, Circus, Classical, Comedy, Composition, Country, Dance, Doo Wop, Early Music, Electronica, Family, Film/Multi-Media, Folk, Funk, Fusion, Global Roots, Gospel, Guitar, Historical Performance, Indie, Jazz, Latin, Impressionists, Magic & Illusion, Mediterranean, Old-time, Physical Theater, Pop, R&B, Reggae, Rock, Singer-Songwriters, Spoken Word, Theater, Tribute, TV Productions, Vocal and World Music and beyond..

Go to change.org/artsrelief to sign the petition today and follow the movement on FacebookTwitter and Instagram.
