New York-based international classical music management agency Primo Artists has launched its public relations division with the appointment of Katy Salomon as the division’s vice president, effective immediately.

The agency’s move into PR follows its November 2020 launch of its social media division, born out of the pandemic. Primo Artists’ first PR roster comprises recently-appointed NZSO artistic advisor and principal conductor, Gemma New, conductor James Gaffigan and composer Steven Mackey.

Charlotte Lee who founded Primo Artists in 2015, said: ‘It is time to extend our PR work beyond our management roster and introduce a new roster of artists with the launch of our Public Relations Division … We are delighted to be one of the few agencies in the world that offers a holistic portfolio of artist management, social media and PR services to artists and institutions.’

Salomon is a trained cellist with degrees from both Florida State and New York Universities. Her decade of experience in public relations, brand strategy and album promotion include work with the late Lois Cohn as well as with Christina Jensen PR/Jensen Artists. For the last five years, she has been an account director with Morahan Arts and Media managing public relations for select titles on Decca and Deutsche Grammophon.

Salomon said: “I’m thrilled to join the illustrious Primo Artists and look forward to adding my public relations and marketing expertise to the company’s superlative offerings. Charlotte Lee and I share many values, and I’m excited to embark on this collaboration with the company so we can change the landscape of arts promotion.”
