Cristian Măcelaru’s 20/21 season WDR Sinfonieorchester season has been announced! Our maestro’s second season as Chief Conductor will feature him on an all-Beethoven opening program and a Rachmaninoff festival to close the season.
He leads epic works such as Mendelssohn Symphony No. 2 “Hymn of Praise”, Brahms/Schönberg Piano Quartet No. 1, Dvořák 9, Bruckner 7 and Mahler’s “Resurrection” Symphony with the WDR Rundfunkchor and Chor des Bayerischen Rundfunks choirs. Plus works by living composers such as György Kurtág, Anna Thorvaldsdottir, Mark Simpson, Mason Bates, Karim Al-Zand and Wynton Marsalis.
Guest conductors and soloists include Christoph Eschenbach, Marek Janowski, Jörg Widmann, Pinchas Zukerman, Nicola Benedetti, Seong-Jin Cho and Renaud Capuçon.
