February 2022 Artist Updates from Primo Artists
Gemma New, conductor: Fresh off performances with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Gemma New returns to the National Symphony Orchestra in D.C. on February 3 & 5 for the first time since her 2019 debut described as “meticulously calibrated beauty” on a program featuring the World Premiere of Missy Mazzoli’s Violin Concerto and works by Vaughan Williams and Sibelius.
James Gaffigan, conductor: James Gaffigan makes his debut with the Opéra national de Paris on a production of Manon from February 5 to 26. Following this, Gaffigan leads The Metropolitan Opera on productions of Eugene Onegin and Le Nozze De Figaro from March 25 to April 16.
Beatrice Rana, piano: Beatrice Rana performs with Gianandrea Noseda and the London Symphony Orchestra on a tour across the U.K, France and Germany from February 6 to February 13. From March 4 to 11, she embarks on a U.S. recital tour period that brings her from San Diego to New York, culminating in her Carnegie Hall Stern Auditorium recital debut on the Keyboard Virtuosi Series.
Melissa White, violin: Social Media Client Melissa White and her Harlem String Quartet performed with the New York Philharmonic in a Young People’s concert led by Thomas Wilkins on January 15 at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall. Just two weeks later on January 28, White returned to Alice Tully Hall on 72 hours’ notice to perform Florence Price Violin Concerto No. 1 with the Juilliard Orchestra led by Mei-Ann Chen.
Sean Shepherd, composer: Social Media Client Sean Shepherd sees the World Premiere of his work “Downtime” on February 4 at the Kölner Philharmonie in performances led by Cristian Măcelaru with the WDR Sinfonieorchester.
Akiko Fujimoto, conductor: Social Media Client Akiko Fujimoto makes her San Francisco Symphony debut on February 17-19 in concerts that honor the late Oakland Symphony Music Director Michael Morgan and feature her leading the San Francisco Symphony Premiere of Florence Price’s Symphony No. 3 in C minor.
