Gemma New conducts in a St. Louis-wide arts livestream
On May 31, 2020, Gemma New will conduct an at-home rendition of Bernstein’s “Make Our Garden Grow” from Candide with the Opera Theatre of St. Louis’ Gerdine Young Artists and musicians of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra in a livestreamed benefit production for the Regional Arts Commission’s Artist Relief Fund, entitled Arts United STL.
The event will feature 16 St. Louis performing-arts organizations who have each created an “act” for the livestream. The “Make Our Garden Grow” performance from Bernstein’s Candide will culminate the broadcast.
Produced by Opera Theatre of St. Louis in partnership with St. Louis Shakespeare Festival, Switch and the Regional Arts Commission, this night of special performances from St. Louis arts institutions is free to the public. Regional Arts Commission Secretary and artist Andrea Purnell will host the broadcast live from the stage at Powell Hall.
The event will raise support for artists and artist organizations in the St. Louis region. Donations can be made here and more information on the event can be found here.
Audiences are invited to tune into this online livestream on Sunday, May 31, 2020, at 7:00pm CT / 8:00pm ET at ExperienceOpera.org!
