March 2023 Artist Updates from Primo Artists

Itzhak Perlman, violin: Perlman returns to Florida this month for recitals with pianist Rohan de Silva at the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in Gainesville on March 6, Lyric Theatre in Stuart on March 8 and The Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale on March 9. On March 11, he will join Music Director Michael Francis for the Florida Orchestra’s 55th-anniversary celebration at Mahaffey Theatre in St. Petersburg before playing a sold-out show of his multi-media program An Evening with Itzhak Perlman at Artis-Naples on March 12.

Nicola Benedetti, violin: Nicola Benedetti embarks on a 5-city U.S. Trio Tour from March 20 to 31 with cellist Leonard Elschenbroich and pianist Alexei Grynyuk. The Benedetti-Elschenbroich-Grynyuk trio will perform at the Vilar Performing Arts Centre in Beaver Creek on March  20, Herbst Theatre in San Francisco on March 22, Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston on March 26, and the Tuesday Evening Concert Series presented by UVA Arts in Charlottesville on March 28. They conclude with a final stop at the Royal Conservatory of Music’s Koerner Hall in Toronto on March 31.

Randall Goosby, violin: From March 12 to 18, Goosby embarks on his third recital tour of the season. He and pianist Anna Han perform at the Schubert Club in St. Paul on March 12, Performing Arts Houston on March 15, McCarter Theatre in Princeton on March 17, and Virginia Arts Festival on March 15. On March 30, he makes his LA Phil subscription debut at Disney Concert Hall on the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with Dalia Stasevska.

Gemma New, conductor: Gemma New makes her Scotland debut on March 3 to 5 with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra in Edinburgh and Glasgow. From there, she heads to Italy to lead the Orchestra Della Toscana at Teatro Verdi, Florence on March 16, followed by stops at the Teatro Metropolitan in Piombino on March 17 and the Teatro Manzoni in Pistoia on March 18. From March 31 to April 1, she kicks off her second season as Artistic Advisor and Principal Conductor of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra on a program of Mahler Symphony No. 3.

Cristian Măcelaru, conductor: Cristian Măcelaru brings the WDR Sinfonieorchester on tour to his hometown in Timisoara, Romania from March 14 to 17 for a side-by-side concert with the WDR Symphony Orchestra and Banatul Philharmonic Orchestra for the Timisoara 2023 European Capital of Culture project. From March 23 to 31, he leads his Orchestre National de France at the Philharmonie de Paris, followed by stops at the Théâtre Des Champs-Élysées and the Théâtre Impérial de Compiègne.

Apollo Chamber Players: Marking their 15th season of multicultural programming, PR client Apollo Chamber Players perform at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall on March 9, including the New York premiere of fellow PR client Jerod Impichchaachaaha’ Tate’s Moonstrike.

Elizabeth Askren, conductor: From March 24 to April 1, PR client Elizabeth Askren conducts the Dallas Opera’s production of Mozart’s Così fan tutte at the Winspear Opera House. She will also host the pre-opera talk with Joy and Ronald Mankoff in an interactive lecture before the show.

Vivian Fung, conductor: PR client Vivian Fung performs the world Premiere of her String Quartet No. 5 “Spiraling” at the artsPlace in Canmore and Edmonton Recital Society on March 3 and 5 respective, where she will give pre-concert lectures before each performance.

Samantha Hankey, mezzo-soprano: PR client Samantha Hankey makes her debut recital at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall on March 10, with pianist Sophie Raynaud on a program of arts songs by Berg, Mahler, Schoenberg, Strauss, Ravel, Zemlinsky, and Satie. Next month, she stars in The Metropolitan Opera’s Der Rosenkavalier as Octavian.

Stephanie Fleischmann, librettistOn March 9-11, Houston Grand Opera presents the world Premiere of PR client librettist Stephanie Fleischmann, and composer Jeremy Howard-Beck’s Another City. Created in response to the narratives around Houston’s homeless community, the work presents the collective voices of a city in search of the meaning of home.

Robert Honstein, composer: PR client Robert Honstein releases his new portrait album Lost and Found on New Focus Recordings on March 24. Featuring percussion trio Tigue, duo New Morse Code and percussionist Michael Compitello in three multi-movement works, Lost and Found captures the wonder, confusion, and delight of early childhood.

Stella Chen, violinist: PR client Stella Chen releases her debut album, Stella x Schubert, with pianist Henry Kramer on the Apple-owned Platoon platform on March 10. She makes her San Francisco recital debut on March 14 in a special program of Schubert at the Herbst Theatre, presented by Chamber Music in San Francisco.

Sphinx Organization: PR client Sphinx Organization was featured in a Good Morning America program on February 17 in a broadcast captured from the SphinxConnect conference. Curtis Stewart, violinist: The Virginia Symphony Orchestra performs the world Premiere of PR client Curtis Stewart’s The Famous People, one of five commissioned recompositions of Dvořák’s Slavonic Dances with violinist Gil Shaham. The concerts take place on March 8 at the Ferguson Center for the Arts in Newport, Chrysler Hall in Norfolk on March 9, and the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts in Virginia Beach on March 10.
