BEATRICE RANA
Beatrice Rana swept away a full house at London’s Royal Albert Hall in her July 24th BBC Proms debut with Sir Andrew Davis and the BBC Symphony. She performed the Schumann Piano Concerto and Schumann/Liszt's Widmung as an encore. Listen to the entire broadcast of the performance here!
On August 1st, Rana makes her Hollywood Bowl debut with the Los Angeles Philharmonic under the baton of Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla on Tchaikovsky's Concerto No. 1, and on August 4th and 5th, she makes her New York City debut at Lincoln Center’s Mostly Mozart Festival with Louis Langrée on Beethoven's Concerto No. 1.
NICOLA BENEDETTI
A BBC Proms favorite, Nicola Benedetti returned to a packed Royal Albert Hall on July 18th with Thomas Søndergård leading the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. To hear the broadcast of the performance, click here: Shostakovich Concerto and Auld Lang Syne encore. Read the glowing reviews here!
On August 10th, Benedetti appears at the Edinburgh International Festival with the Budapest Festival Orchestra under the direction of Ivan Fischer, and on August 25th, she performs with Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and Antonio Pappano at the Gstaad Menuhin Festival.
CRISTIAN MACELARU
On August 4th, conductor Cristian Macelaru kicks off his inaugural season as new Music Director of the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music in Santa Cruz. Click here to enjoy a preview video! The Festival will present 7 World Premieres, 11 composers-in-residence and two special tributes – one to commemorate Lou Harrison’s centenary and another honoring John Adams’ 70th birthday. ITZHAK PERLMAN
On July 29th, Itzhak Perlman will perform at the Ravinia Festival’s annual gala with James Conlon leading the Chicago Symphony. The program features selections of John Williams’ film-music works from Perlman’s popular Cinema Serenade albums. For 8 weeks during the summer, Perlman stays busy running the Perlman Music Program, a top training academy for string musicians. The program was recently featured in The New York Times Travel Section as one of the jewels of Shelter Island, within the North and South Forks of Long Island.
