Randall Goosby to perform at the National September 11th Twentieth Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony
Randall Goosby and pianist Zhu Wang will perform “Adoration” by Florence Price as part of the National September 11th Twentieth Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony honoring those killed in the 9/11 attacks and in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. Six moment of silence will be observed, acknowledging when each of the World Trade Center towers fell, the attack on the Pentagon and the crash of Flight 93.
Don Mischer Productions is producing the event on behalf of the Memorial and Museum Foundation. Goosby and Wang’s performance will take place at Ground Zero at 10:00am, the time following the first moment of silence symbolizing the fall of the South Tower, and ahead of the moment of silence symbolizing Flight 93’s crash in Shanksville, Pennslyvania. Price’s work “Adoration” pays homage to the victims while communicating the need for community and togetherness.
The in-person ceremony will be exclusively attended by family members of 9/11 victims and dignitaries including President Joe Biden, President Barak Obama, President Bill Clinton, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former Mayor of NYC Michael Bloomberg, and Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer. Fulfilling its sacred obligation to remember those who were killed on September 11, the 9/11 Memorial and Museum will read all names of the 2,983 victims who perished as a result of the attacks. The commemoration is to be concluded with the annual “Tribute in Light” at sundown. Located in lower Manhattan, the ceremony will once again illuminate the sky in commemoration of the anniversary of the attacks.
