Itzhak Perlman’s milestone 70th birthday on August 31st was commemorated in media outlets all over the world and celebrated on the cover of Strings, The Strad and Listen magazines. Deutsche Grammophon released an album of Fauré and Strauss sonatas with Perlman and long-time collaborator Emanuel Ax, and both DG/Decca and Warner Classics released box sets of his complete recordings on each label. Earlier this month, Arnaud Sussmann participated in the 2015 Paris Play/Direct Academy hosted by the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris. Following his play/direct performance of the Beethoven Violin Concerto with the OCP at the Philharmonie de Paris, Sussmann was awarded first prize and an invitation to perform with the orchestra on September 25, 2015 at the Festival of Besançon, where he led a stunning performance of Mozart A Major Concerto. On September 12th, Perlman opened the Pittsburgh Symphony season with a gala program of film music, "Cinema Serenade", conducted by Manfred Honeck. "The real star of the show was the legendary violinist Itzhak Perlman … for an unforgettable night embodying true Hollywood romanticism.
